SEMESTER IN BELGIUM
antwerp, belgium
SPENT FALL 2024 STUDYING ABROAD AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ANTWERP AS PART OF THE COLLEGE OF BUSINESS'S COMPETITIVE SEMESTER IN ANTWERP PROGRAM, THROUGH JMU.
T he core of the program is COB 300, the first integrated course sequence students take after formal acceptance into the College of Business. COB 300 combines Marketing, Management, Finance, and Operations into a single, intensive semester-long experience, complemented by a case analysis project. While abroad, I also completed a European Integration course, which explored how the EU functions politically, economically, and administratively, and how businesses operate within its unique institutional framework.
Our cohort had the opportunity to extend our learning beyond the classroom through multiple field visits, including NATO Headquarters, the European Parliament, and the European Commission. Experiencing these institutions firsthand was incredibly valuable, especially in a country as culturally diverse as Belgium (home to many of these organizations for that exact reason). Being abroad during the 2024 U.S. Presidential elections added another layer of depth, offering a firsthand look at global business, policy, and geopolitics from non-American perspectives.
I was also fortunate to travel throughout Western Europe on weekends and program excursions, visiting England, Wales, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Luxembourg, in addition to exploring Belgium. These trips gave me a deeper appreciation for different cultures and added to one of the most enriching academic and personal experiences I’ve had thus far.

Since middle school, my favorite way to capture, preserve, and share memories has been through shooting content of myself and others, and editing together videos to post to my personal Instagram account. My semester abroad in Belgium allowed for countless gorgeous shots, and even more instances of love and friendship that I want to celebrate everyday.
This is one of my favorite videos I've made so far.
