IUOE Local 478 is Connecticut’s statewide Local of the International Union of Operating Engineers, representing heavy equipment operators, mechanics, and construction industry professionals across the state. During my time with Local 478, I supported a wide range of media-driven communications and member outreach initiatives, contributing to both internal operations and external engagement.

My responsibilities included preparing mass mailings, creating event programs and promotional fliers, drafting newsletter content from bullet-point updates, and assisting with email blasts and social media communication. I contributed to ongoing web redesign efforts to improve user experience and internal functionality. I also photographed all major events, including scholarship brunches, active retiree luncheons, apprenticeship graduation, and the endorsement event with Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont. In addition to communications duties, I supported front-desk operations by digitizing documents, handling member inquiries, and ensuring smooth day-to-day workflow for the union’s administrative team.
